About

I am currently a 4th year PhD student at McMaster University in the School of Social Work. I received my SSW diploma from Mohawk college in 2004 and after working in the social service field for many years, completed a B.A in Human Services from Athabasca University in 2016, and an M.A in Gender Studies and Feminist research from McMaster University before pursuing doctoral studies. While I have worked in various non-profit environments, I've spent most of my career working in women’s services in the area of addiction and mental health. My therapeutic training in trauma informed care and feminist counselling has led me to question traditional forms of service delivery informed by the medical model which has been foundational to my research and practice. I now operate my own private practice (Mending Minds) in the Hamilton community as well as developed/facilitates a local support group for migraine patients. My clinical practice is adaptable as I strive to meet clients' unique therapeutic needs. I strongly believe in building a solid work alliance that is collaborative and values you as the expert on your own life. Initial session is free of charge.
