Outreach & Advocacy

OAMHP advocates for fair, equitable, and evidence-informed systems that recognize the essential role of mental health professionals in Ontario.

We work collaboratively with government, regulators, and partner organizations to remove systemic barriers, improve access to care, and strengthen the profession.

Our Priorities

OAMHP advocates for systems that strengthen access, equity, and collaboration in mental health care.

  • Psychologists’ Scope of Practice: Submission to the Ministry of Health on proposed prescribing authority.
  • Registration Modernization: Preparing feedback to CPBAO to ensure fairness and recognition for master’s-trained psychologists.
  • WSIB Mental Health Program of Care: Supporting implementation of WSIB’s new collaborative care model.

Strategic Partnerships

OAMHP collaborates with organizations across Ontario to strengthen prevention efforts, advance professional standards, and ensure mental health professionals are equipped to respond to emerging risks affecting youth and communities.

One example of this work is our partnership with White Ribbon on Beyond the Screen, an Ontario-based initiative focused on preventing pathways to gender-based violence. Through this partnership, OAMHP and White Ribbon are working to strengthen evidence-based resources that help professionals understand and respond to youth radicalization and support early prevention across sectors.

Over the past two years, OAMHP has contributed practitioner expertise to the advisory process, helping ensure the course reflects the realities of clinical practice and supports ethical, prevention-oriented responses.

OAMHP members can access the Beyond the Screen eCourse at no cost via the eCourse at no cost via the Member Portal under Member Resources.
