For the past 30 years, as a former Teacher and Guidance Counsellor, I have witnessed the struggles of young people today and know firsthand how their emotional wellbeing impacts their life at home and at school. Over the years, I have seen a tremendous increase in mental health issues including anxiety, depression, self-harm, trauma, grieving the loss of a loved one and/or changes in the family unit as a whole. With the assistance of my pet therapy dog, Milo, I am committed to helping children, youth and teens Find a Better Tomorrow., In my practice, CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) is used to support young people, in reducing and working towards eliminating their struggles with anxiety, depression, panic attacks, trauma, phobias and various other mental health concerns. I routinely counsel youngsters in relation to stress management, self-esteem, bullying, anger and school avoidance issues as well. Through empathetic listening and a genuine caring heart, young people willingly share their feelings and we collaboratively work towards a plan that will allow them to not only reduce negative behaviours but also develop coping strategies that will assist them in life.
