About

Jay is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. Jay studied at Athabasca University (Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology) where much of his research focused on issues related to gender identity, body image, exercise and eating disorders. Jay provides trauma informed therapy within an anti-oppression framework. His approach to counselling is client centred, and acknowledges the various oppressive factors that often influence an individual’s mental health. He draws techniques from emotion-focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness, and existential therapy based upon the client’s needs and preferences. Jay’s areas of specialization are anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, body image, exercise and eating disorders, and issues related to LGBTQ2I+ identities and relationships.
