BIOGRAPHY

Christina Janiga (she/her) owns and operates a group private practice, Christina Janiga Psychotherapy in Burlington, Ontario. She is a Registered Psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor, Certified EMDR Therapist, and a Consultant-in-Training for EMDR trained therapists taking their next steps to becoming certified with EMDRIA.

She provides EMDR therapy (along with other integrated approaches) primarily with adults looking for support with past childhood trauma, developmental trauma, complex PTSD, pre-verbal trauma, perinatal mental health and grief, traumatic birth, and other adverse life experiences. She offers both a traditional psychotherapy model as well as an EMDR intensive model.

Christina believes in the importance of making high quality trauma treatment accessible to all communities and offers a specialized counselling internship program for Master’s level counselling psychology students. Through this internship she provides opportunities for interns to implement psychotherapy services to individuals at local maternal shelters.

With the complex nature of this demographic, she trains her psychotherapy students with trauma-informed interventions, including a Flash-like approach called Four Blinks. This technique is a simple, minimally intrusive intervention that gives new psychotherapist (not formally trained in EMDR) a direct trauma tool that helps their clients desensitize and process past traumas.
