Designations at OAMHP: Certified Member, Validated Supervisor
The OAMHP offers members the opportunity to elevate their credentials through our well-recognized Certification Program. This pathway provides additional designations for our members that demonstrate exceptional skills, knowledge in an area of competence, and dedication to the profession. We offer two designations: Certified Member and Validated Supervisor.

Elevate Your Career as a Validated Supervisor
For those Certified members who are interested in providing clinical supervision to other mental health professionals, they may choose to obtain the “Validated Supervisor” designation, demonstrating their knowledge and skills in the clinical supervision of mental health professionals. This designation:

- Promotes the competence and professionalism of clinical supervisors and strengthens the competency of our members

- Provides the opportunity to develop a greater understanding of the expectations of a supervisor in Ontario

- The only formal designation validating supervisors in Ontario
Certified Member Designation
This designation is granted after a significant peer review process that recognizes a member’s exceptional skills and knowledge in an area of competence. Holding the designation of “Certified Member” demonstrates a standard of excellence and a commitment to the mental health profession. Certified Members feel this designation:

- Adds to their qualifications
- Gives them credibility and recognition in the field
- Assures their clients regarding their level of professionalism
- Provides a sense of satisfaction and pride in the completion of a rigorous process
Validated Supervisor Designation
For those Certified members who are interested in providing clinical supervision to other mental health professionals, they may choose to obtain the “Validated Supervisor” designation, demonstrating their knowledge and skills in the clinical supervision of mental health professionals. This designation:

- Promotes the competence and professionalism of clinical supervisors and strengthens the competency of our members
- Provides the opportunity to develop a greater understanding of the expectations of a supervisor in Ontario
