Introduction to Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytic Therapy
Psychodynamic/psychoanalytic therapies are scientifically validated approaches that tend to focus on the self and relational issues underlying symptoms and distress, as opposed to targeting symptoms directly. Psychoanalytic theories have historically provided rich ideas to understand the self and relational world of the client. Treatment focuses on cognition, emotion, experience, needs and the interpersonal dimensions of the client’s difficulties. Interpersonal relationships—both with the therapist and others–are explored to understand and change how clients experience themselves and relate to others in interpersonal relationships.
This 12-hour introductory workshop will provide both theory and applied considerations for practice to allow mental health professionals to integrate psychoanalytic/psychodynamic ideas into their clinical practice.
This is a four-part workshop with 12 hours of learning in 4 sessions over the month of July
Registration open until June 28
